This modern Chanel bag looks as if it could have stepped out of the 1980s. One of the most memorable images from The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibit “The Model As Muse” was from Peter Lindbergh. Lindbergh is a German photographer famous for his moody black and white photos. In the 1980s, he used a pre-gentrified DUMBO as a location for many shoots. The images above are from a 1991 Vogue shoot, “Wild At Heart”. It was styled by Grace Coddington, the breakout star in “The September Issue”. The clothing in the top image and jewelry/belt in the second image are all Chanel. Chanel was famous for it’s bold jewelry and accessories in the ’80s.

We will be posting this fantastic bag at our eBay store this Sunday.

Hermes uses the hardware on watches, clutches, cuffs and belts.

Stefano Pilati’s Fall 2008 show for Yves Saint Laurent caused quite a sensation. Part of the buzz was due to the hair and makeup but part of the buzz was due to the clothes. Maison Martin Margiela: 20 Years

margiela

Martin Margiela is one of fashion’s most enigmatic figures. His highly conceptual designs influence many of his peers. Unlike his peers, he shuns the spotlight. Masion Martin Margiela recently celebrated 20 years in fashion with a retrospective at the Antwerp Mode Museum (Fashion Museum). Take a look at the video here: Deconstructed Garments: Margiela 20 Year Exhibition

We just listed a very special Martin Margiela hybrid coat/jacket on our eBay store. It is appears to be from the late ’80s/early ’90s and is cerebral, deconstructed Margiela at his best. This particular garment is bound to be a collector’s item as Margiela has finally left his company after much speculation.

Thierry Mugler: ’80s Icon

mugler_dress11

Thierry Mugler’s clothes and photographs defined fashion in the 1980s. His clothes starred in George Michael’s famous video, “Too Funky”, along with ’80s supermodels: Linda, Christy, Naomi, Nadja Auermann, Karen Mulder, Estelle and Tyra Banks. Check it out here: Too Funky: George Michael

Last year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibited the video and Mugler’s clothes at the “Model as Muse” show. Beyonce was so inspired by the video and clothes, she asked Mugler to design the costumes for her current tour.

We just received this vintage Thierry Mugler dress at the store. We look at it and automatically think of Mugler’s famous photos and of course, That Video. The dress looks amazing on real people too, not just the supers. Mugler always celebrated a woman’s curves. It will be posted for sale at our eBay store this Sunday, November 15 around 11pm EST.
