In 2003, Takashi Murakami, the Japanese artist, collaborated with Louis Vuitton on a wildly successful collection of bags. His bright, colorful style was a refreshing change of pace. The bags sold out almost immediately. The 2007 documentary “Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton” by director Loic Prigent explored the creative process behind the frenzy. The special features section included a chapter on the Tribute Patchwork bag. The Patchwork was composed of 15 different Louis Vuitton bags sewed together to create a new bag. Only 20 were made and they retailed for about $40,000 each.

As you may have heard, Martin Margiela has officially left his company after 20 years. There have been many (past, present and future) retrospectives honoring his illustrious career. We did a post on this very subject last month. Rene Rosso, the owner of Diesel (and Martin Margiela and Viktor & Rolf), announced that he will not be replacing Margiela with another designer. The current design team will continue in his absence. Judging from the recent collections, Margiela’s sure touch will be missed.

Christoper Kane is one of fashion’s newest stars. A graduate of Central Saint Martins, his Spring Summer 2007 debut collection was the sensation of London Fashion Week. He currently is a consultant for Versace and just launched a successful, one off, collaboration with Topshop.
This unique dress is from Kane’s Fall Winter 2007 collection. After his stellar debut, people wondered if he would be able to provide a strong follow up show. Kane proved them wrong as the Fall Winter 2007 collection showed maturity and verve. Manolo Blahnik created these heels for Sarah Jessica Parker’s wedding scene in the first “Sex In The City” movie. They created such a stir, he ended up producing them for the public. The style name is “Something Blue” in honor of the film. Each pair is handmade in Italy. We posted them to our eBay store last night!

Valentino is one of the world’s most legendary designers. For almost 50 years, he designed clothes that were synonymous with luxury, beauty and elegance. Valentino announced his retirement in 2007 and left his company in 2008. The Oscar nominated documentary “Valentino The Last Emperor” covered the last act of his long, illustrious career. It is a must see for anyone interested in fashion. After the retrospective fashion show, Karl Lagerfeld leans over to Valentino and whispers “Compared to us, the rest are making rags.”

We are pleased to present a medium sized Muse Two at our eBay store. It is black patent leather with suede trim and interior. This style caused quite a sensation when it was first released in 2008. We noticed it is also causing quite a sensation on eBay. Apparently, the medium size is quite rare as most people are selling the large size.
